Virtual Try-On Privacy

This page explains how the virtual try-on on our product pages handles your photo. Our Privacy Policy covers everything else.
Our product pages offer an optional virtual try-on, powered by glimi, that shows how a hair product could look on you.
What we collect. If you're signed in and choose to use it, you upload or take a photo of yourself and pick a hair length. We also record how the feature is used: when it's opened, when a try-on is created or fails, and whether a product is added to cart. These records are linked to your customer account ID.
How your photo is used. Before your try-on is made, a smaller copy of your photo is sent to OpenAI to check that it's suitable: one real person, no explicit content, and nothing covering the hair. If it isn't, we ask you for a different photo and nothing is created. Then your photo is sent to one of our AI providers, OpenAI or Google, together with the product images and a text description, to create a single edited image of you wearing the product. It is used only to create your try-on. Neither we nor glimi use it to identify you, to train AI models, or for any other purpose, and neither OpenAI nor Google trains on it. We don't create or store face scans, face templates or measurements of your face.
How long we keep it.
- Your photo: never written to our servers' storage. It is held in memory only while your try-on is created, then discarded. Our AI providers may keep it for a limited time, solely to monitor for abuse: up to 30 days at OpenAI and up to 55 days at Google. During that time their authorized staff may review it if their safety systems flag it, and Google may store it temporarily in any country where it operates.
- On your device: so you can try other products without adding your photo again, your browser keeps it in this tab's temporary storage for up to 2 hours. It's deleted sooner when you sign out or tap Remove next to your photo, and your browser normally deletes it when you close the tab. It isn't sent anywhere until you create a try-on, and it only comes back while you're signed in to the same account.
- Your generated try-on image: kept for 30 days so you can come back to it, then deleted automatically. The exception is an image you choose to share with us (below).
- Usage records: kept so we can understand and improve the feature. They are deleted if you ask us to delete your data.
Sharing your try-on with us. After a try-on, you can choose to share the generated image with Honey Hair Co. If you do, you allow us to use it, labelled as AI-generated, on our website and social media. If we feature it, you'll receive store credit. You can ask us to stop using a shared image at any time by contacting us.
Age. The virtual try-on is for adults 18 and over. Please don't upload photos of anyone else, or of anyone under 18.
Your choices. The feature is optional. To request a copy or deletion of your try-on data, contact us at info@honeyhairco.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
